ICAO Council reaches landmark decision on civil aviation CO2 emissions

During its 39th Assembly, the ICAO Council has adopted the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, or (CORSIA) ; a first for any global industry sector. The adoption of CORSIA Standards and Recommended Practices complements other elements in the basket of measures including the enhancement of air navigation efficiency, the adopted aircraft CO2 certification standard and the long-term vision on the use of sustainable aviation fuels. 

Airline operators will be providing information pertaining to international aviation CO2 emissions to participating States that have volunteered to participate in the scheme, as of January 2019.
