But one question remains: what should be done with residual emissions?<\/p>\n<p>Among the available solutions, <strong>carbon capture and storage (CCS)<\/strong> is a proven technology, commonly used to increase production from hydrocarbon wells.<br \/>A promising alternative, however, goes a step further: <strong>carbon capture and utilization<\/strong>. Instead of storing carbon underground, the goal is to transform it into useful products\u2014building materials, chemicals, or even proteins\u2014while reducing GHG emissions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1e52737 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1e52737\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column (2017\u20132019)<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d6fff05 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d6fff05\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Funded by the Government of Quebec, the<strong> Valorisation Carbone Qu\u00e9bec Project (PVCQ)<\/strong> aimed to <strong>assess the GHG reduction potential<\/strong> of different CO\u2082 conversion technologies.<br \/>At the heart of the project was the <strong>enzymatic CO\u2082 capture technology<\/strong> developed by CO\u2082 Solutions, in partnership with researchers at Universit\u00e9 Laval \u2014 a combination praised for its innovation and potential impact (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.environnement.gouv.qc.ca\/infuseur\/communique.asp?no=3700&amp;utm_source=chatgpt.com\">environnement.gouv.qc.ca<\/a>).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-350f13d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"350f13d\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 Role<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7fdb48b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7fdb48b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Throughout the project, <strong>CCG was the exclusive partner responsible for quantifying GHG reductions.<\/strong><br \/>Our team analyzed several CO\u2082 conversion pathways, including:<\/p><ul><li>Transformation into <strong>concrete<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/carbicrete.com\/\">Carbicrete<\/a>);<\/li><li>Production of <strong>chemicals<\/strong> such as acetic acid, methanol, or dimethyl ether;<\/li><li>Production of <strong>proteins for aquaculture feed<\/strong> using <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiverdi.com\/\">Kiverdi<\/a>\u2019s technology<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-558c39a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"558c39a\" elementor-element-d0d2d12 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d0d2d12\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Our methodological framework, validated by the <strong>Ministry of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change (MELCC)<\/strong> and aligned with <strong>ISO 14064-2 standards<\/strong>, was structured in three stages:<\/p><ol><li><strong>Identifying baseline and project scenarios<\/strong>;<\/li><li><strong>Estimating the GHG reduction potential<\/strong> for each technology;<\/li><li><strong>Summarizing the results<\/strong>, expressed both <strong>per kilogram of final product<\/strong> and <strong>per tonne of CO\u2082 captured<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol><p>The chart below illustrates these results, highlighting performance differences across the various technology families.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d74703 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"7d74703\" to:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Objectively compare<\/strong> several families of technologies;<\/li><li>Highlight those offering the <strong>greatest potential for GHG reduction<\/strong>;<\/li><li>Support the <strong>selection of innovative and viable solutions<\/strong> for the future.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section <strong>provided a comparative assessment of the emission reduction potential of different CO\u2082 conversion
