1. The first step: Commitment<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Net-Zero Challenge encourages organizations, large and small, to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. More than a symbolic pledge, it provides a clear framework<\/strong> to measure your GHG emissions, set targets, take action, and demonstrate progress.<\/p>

Participation involves three steps:<\/p>

  1. Choose your participation stream (industry, finance, or other sectors)<\/li>
  2. Sign a leadership commitment letter<\/li>
  3. Complete a baseline inventory of your GHG emissions<\/li><\/ol>

    Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) also benefit from a simplified pathway tailored to their capacities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    2. The roadmap<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Once enrolled, two key milestones structure your journey:<\/p>

    Within 12 months: the preliminary plan<\/strong>
    You must complete a preliminary questionnaire that includes:
    \u2022 A GHG emissions inventory (Scopes 1, 2, and, where applicable, 3)
    \u2022 Reduction targets aligned with the Challenge\u2019s guidelines: at least a 40% reduction compared to the baseline year<\/strong> (Technical Guide)<\/a>. These targets are ambitious but slightly less stringent than those of the international Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)<\/a>.
    \u2022 For non-SMEs: questions about climate-related financial disclosure.<\/p>

    Within 24 months: the full plan<\/strong>
    You must submit a comprehensive questionnaire, including:
    \u2022 A more detailed version of the preliminary plan
    \u2022 Your interim milestones toward 2050
    \u2022 A scenario analysis to test the robustness of your trajectory
    \u2022 Mitigation strategies and a policy on carbon offsets
    \u2022 Details on corporate governance and monitoring of commitments<\/p>

    Each year, you must also publish a progress report. And to move up in the recognition levels\u2014from bronze to diamond\u2014additional criteria apply, including the integration of new Scope 3 categories in your emissions inventory (Official Net-Zero Challenge page).<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
