It single-handedly accounts for about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/newsroom\/news\/2018\/april\/cement-technology-roadmap-plots-path-to-cutting-co2-emissions-24-by-2050.html\">7 percent of all global carbon emissions<\/a>, according to estimates from the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/\">International Energy Agency<\/a><\/em> (IEA). That makes it the second-largest single industrial emitter in the world, second only to the iron and steel industry.<\/p>\n<p>As global population rises and urbanization grows, global cement production is set to increase between 12 to 23% by 2050.
